Glass Packaging Forum

We want better environmental outcomes for container glass that benefit our communities.

That’s why we have a plan to enhance New Zealand’s existing glass recycling infrastructure and collection networks nationwide to create a smarter, long-term solution New Zealanders can be proud of.

Like other forms of regulated product stewardship, such as regulated container return schemes, it would be fully funded by producers, and governed by a not-for-profit organisation.

What & Why

The Glass Packaging Forum is urging New Zealanders to rally behind a proposal to enhance glass recycling in support of New Zealand’s ambition to create a zero-waste society.

It includes all container glass – peanut butter jars and sauce jars, as well as beverage glass like beer and juice bottles.

The proposal is a simpler, cheaper, and more effective alternative for all container glass than the Container Return Scheme (CRS), which is for beverage containers only, currently under review by the Ministry for the Environment.

This website has been designed to provide information to all New Zealanders who wish to gain an understanding of this proposed scheme.
